Zusammenfassung
1977, fünf Jahre nach der ersten klinischen Anwendung [3], wurde das kurzwirksame, relativ untoxische Etomidat unter dem Namen Hypnomidat registriert. Obwohl in den Jahren der klinischen Erprobung bereits verschiedene Applikationsformen und Anwendungen vorgeschlagen wurden [1, 5, 14, 17], fand die Substanz zunächst nur als Induktionshypnotikum Verwendung in der Anästhesie.
