Zusammenfassung

Der Magen ist einerseits der Speicher für die aufgenommenen Speisen, die nachfolgend in kleinen Portionen weiter in den Darm abgegeben werden. Zum anderen wird in ihm durch das einzigartige saure Milieu im Zusammenspiel mit Enzymen und der Peristaltik die Verdauung der Nahrung bewirkt. Erkrankungen resultieren aus Veranderungen der Wandstruktur, der Funktion und der Wegsamkeit. Klinisch stehen Schmerzen, Blutungen, Übelkeit bzw. Erbrechen im Vordergrund.
