Abstract

The prominent role of Na+ and K+ ions in the cellular processes is well known and the biological importance of the other three cations especially that of Li+ is also permanently increasing. At the same time the study and the comparison of the physicochemical behaviour of these five cations help us to understand the molecular mechanism of their biological effect.
