Abstract

The decay mechanisms of argon clusters have been studied using Molecular Dynamics simulations and Lennard-Jones potentials. Heating up processes were applied to Ar13 up to temperatures in the melting region. In this range of temperatures large fluctuations in the mean kinetic energy of the system are present and a sequential evaporation is observed. The thermal decay of these aggregates occurs in a time scale of nanoseconds.
