Abstract
A model of word sense disambiguation is presented which uses a set of content-oriented rules for generating new word meanings starting from a prototypical meaning assignment in the lexicon. Two words are simultaneously disambiguated taking into account their syntactic relationship. Generated alternatives are assessed by the preceding textual context. The model has been implemented as a part of an interpretation system (natural language - > meaning representation language).
