Abstract
Optical gating is achieved using a Fabry-Perot nonlinear optical etalon consisting of a CdSeTe-doped glass and two mirrors. A cw probe light and a pulsed gate light are collinearly illuminated on the etalon. The output of the probe light is gated with a fast response time, due to the refractive-index change in the glass. The nonlinear refractive index of the material, based on the carrier generation by the gate light, is precisely evaluated.
