Abstract
An additional electron cooling device will be constructed for the Heidelberg Test Storage Ring TSR. The electron temperatures should be two orders of magnitude lower than those achieved with a conventional electron cooler. First experimental results concerning the GaAs cathode are presented, especially measurements of the energy spread in longitudinal direction at low and high currents and calculations of the acceleration section.
