Zusammenfassung
Cochlear Implant steht für Innenohrprothese. Es eignet sich also nur für solche Patienten, deren Ertaubung Folge eines Funktionsausfalles des Innenohres ist. Höraervertaubte Patienten können nicht mit einem Cochlear Implant versorgt werden. Sie machen allerdings nur weniger als 5% aller beidseitig Ertaubten aus, die übergroße Mehrzahl aller Ertaubten oder gehörlos Geborenen sind innenohrtaub.
