Abstract
Current criteria in the diagnosis of brain death are based upon:
-
1.
Clinical history (exclusion of reversible conditions like hypothermia, intoxication)
-
2.
Physical examination (coma, apnea, absence of brain stem function)
-
3.
Adequate observation period (depending on the age of the patient and the underlying cause of the brain lesion).
