Abstract

This chapter is devoted to the study of photonuclear processes as a source of information on the high-momentum components of the nuclear wave function. The (γ,p) and (γ,n) processes are considered in the framework of various theoretical methods and models of the reaction mechanism, such as the single-nucleon model, the quasi-free knockout model, the quasideuteron-type models, the methods taking account of Δ-excitation and ρ-meson exchange, the self-consistent RPA theory, the Jastrow-type models and some others. The role of the nucleon-nucleon correlations is shown in detail. The theoretical results are compared with a variety of experimental data.
