Zusammenfassung

Seit meinem ersten Versuch mit dem Massenscreening der Prostata im Jahre 1974 [4, 5] mußte ich mich mit vielen kontroversen Meinungen in der ganzen Welt auseinandersetzen. Erst in den letzten Jahren wurde das Massenscreening der Prostata als eine effektive Methode zur Krankheitsprävention in Betracht gezogen, doch selbst jetzt noch hält sich die Anzahl der Befürworter in Grenzen. Aus diesem Grund begrüße ich dieses erste internationale Symposium zum Screening der Prostata, ebenso wie ich erfreut bin, über meine eigenen Erfahrungen in Japan berichten zu können.
