Abstract
Hardness of minerals is usually defined as their resistance to mechanical destruction. Hardness is an integral characteristic of the mechanical properties of minerals and it is determined by mineral elasticity, strength, ductility, and brittleness. Hardness is not a physical constant and its value is dependent not only on the material under investigation, but also on the chosen method of measurement.
