Abstract
Food composition tables will never be complete; there will always be new foods to be added while others are deleted. Furthermore, changes in production methods may result in alteration in the nutrient content of foodstuffs. New nutrients become of scientific interest and new methods of analysis are constantly being developed. Just as the production of one table is beginning the planning for the next has to start. The second issue of the National Food Administration’s food composition tables replaces the first edition, which was published in 1978.
