Abstract
The Symposium opened with a paper on a patient beliefs by Dr. John Savin. Dr. Savin had conducted patient questionnaires which confirmed the clinical impression that patient’s ideas are not only often absurd, but also may interfere with treatment. The only way to try and alter patient ideas is to counter them with more patient education.
