Abstract

Two different routes to new magnetic fullerene materials where investigated: Preparation of organic charge transfer complexes of C60 via chemical reduction of C60 with strong organic donors and electro-crystallisation of C60 in the presence of appropriate counterions. In all systems a remarkable spin-spin exchange coupling was found, which depends on the size of the counterions. Short range magnetic order was seen up to about 100K, which is nearly two orders of magnitude higger than what is usually observed in organic materials.
