Zusammenfassung

Die Kombinationspräparate von Trimethoprim und Sulfamethoxazol — bekannte Handelsnamen sind z.B. Bactrim® und Eusaprim® — haben in der Therapie von Harnwegsinfektionen eine weite Verbreitung gefunden. Beide Wirkstoffe greifen in den Folsäurestoffwechsel der Bakterien ein, jedoch an unterschiedlicher Stelle, so daß es zu einer Sequential-Blockade der Folsäuresynthese kommt. Die Folge ist ein Synergismus der Wirkung mit Verbreiterung des Wirkungsspektrums und partieller Bakterizidie.
