Zusammenfassung

Die Behandlung praearthrotischer Deformitäten (X-Bein, O-Bein, usw.) verhütet unter Umständen sekundäre Arthrosen oder mildert ihre Neigung zur Progredienz. Eine eigentliche, causale Behandlung gibt es aber noch nicht. Da das Wesen der A. def. biochemisch in der Abnahme der Mucopolysaccharide besteht, hat man versucht, Chondroitinschwefelsäure zuzuführen, in gewissem Sinne also eine Substitutionstherapie zu betreiben. Die Ergebnisse waren aber fragwürdig. Dem behandelnden Arzt bleibt deshalb nicht viel mehr als die Bekämpfung der Symptome und die Verhütung von Kontrakturen. Diese Behandlung ist im allgemeinen konservativ und kann sich nach einer großen Skala von Möglichkeiten richten, die persönlichen Erfahrungen weiten Raum läßt. Hier ist allerdings oft eine gewisse Polypragmasie unverkennbar.
