Abstract
In this chapter we consider the theory of the symmetry properties of nonrigid molecules (NRMs). This problem has been widely discussed in recent years, with the interpretation and fundamental status of various approaches being examined very closely. Such continued interest reflects and is inspired by the lively controversies that have arisen within the subject, and the fact that some significant differences of opinion still remain.
