Zusammenfassung

„Wir Mitglieder im Sonderausschuss […] haben wirklich vorurteilsfrei die Argumente des jeweils anders Denkenden abgewogen, und wir haben miteinander um den besten Weg zum Schutz des ungeborenen Lebens gerungen“ (Bundestag, 25. Juni 1992). Diese Aussage der deutschen FDP-Politikerin Uta Würfel, die im Kontext der deutschen Abtreibungsdebatte Anfang der 1990er Jahre erfolgt ist, umreißt den Grundgedanken deliberativen Handelns sehr schön: Nicht Macht und Interessen, sondern gute Argumente sollten im Zentrum politischer Auseinandersetzungen – und insbesondere moralischer Fragen wie Abtreibung – stehen.
