‚Digitale Synästhesie‘ als Modell für eine Kybernetik der Ästhetik

Abstract

Der Artikel stellt das inter- und transdisziplinäre Forschungsprojekt Digital Synesthesia vor und diskutiert einige seiner Thesen. Die Hauptannahme des artsbased Forschungsprojekts ist, dass digitale Kunstwerke aufgrund ihrer multimedialen und auf den binären Code basierenden Eigenschaften sowie aufgrund ihrer intermedialen Gestaltung synästhetische Erlebnisse bei Nicht-Synästhet_innen auslösen können. Synästhesie als eine besondere Ausformung der Wahrnehmung wird durch ihre cross- und multimodalen Prozesse bei der Verarbeitung sinnlicher Reize definiert. Neueste Forschungen zeigen auch, dass Synästhesie nicht nur durch sensorische Reize ausgelöst wird, sondern auch durch semantische Assoziationen evoziert werden kann.

Der Artikel entwirft aus einer kybernetischen Perspektive eine Ästhetik der digitalen Kunst, bei der die Multimodalität, und hier besonders die Kinästhetik (der Bewegungssinn) im Vordergrund der Beobachtungen steht. Am Beispiel analoger und digitaler Kunstwerke werden kybernetische Prinzipien der Ästhetik vorgestellt, die den Begriff „Ästhetik“ in seiner ursprünglichen Bedeutung, nämlich „die Wahrnehmung betreffend“, voraussetzen.
