Ein Dialog für zwei Ethnomusikologen

Zusammenfassung

B und M, zwei Mitarbeiter des Instituts für Ethnomusikologie, treffen sich zufällig in der Kaffeeküche des Instituts. M hat jüngst eine Radiosendung über Ethnomusikologie gehört, in welcher B interviewt wurde. B sprach in diesem Interview über seine Forschung in Westamazonien und sagte, dass ein neuer Forschungszugang der Ethnomusikologie bzw. der Kulturanthropologie nicht hinterfragt, ob sich – in dem konkreten Beispiel der Radiosendung – ein Heiler beim Singen in einen Papagei verwandelt oder nicht. M dagegen plädiert für ein striktes Hinterfragen solcher Annahmen, und dadurch entspinnt sich eine angeregte Diskussion über epistemologische und ontologische, aber auch politische und ethische Fragen, über Pluralismus, Realismus und Inkommensurabilität, insbesondere, aber nicht nur, am Beispiel klanglicher Praktiken und auditiver Wissenskulturen. Wird B M seine Position verständlich machen können? Wird er ihn vielleicht sogar davon überzeugen können oder wird umgekehrt Ms Skepsis B dazu bringen, seine Ansichten zu überdenken? Oder muss die Angelegenheit vertagt werden?
