Zusammenfassung

Der Beitrag skizziert eine historische Perspektive auf die mediatisierte Stadt im Blick auf den informations- und kommunikationstechnologischen Wandel und die frühe Geschichte der Mobilkommunikation seit den 1960er Jahren. Während heute dominante Visionen der Stadt als „Smart City“ historisch mit technologischen Stadtmodellen dieser Zeit verbunden sind, stehen die 1960er und 70er Jahre zugleich für einen uneinheitlichen Wandel mobiler urbaner Kommunikationstechnologien, wie der Beitrag an Beispielen unter anderem der Fahrzeugkommunikation und des Citizens Band Radio aufzeigt. Anhand der frühen Geschichte der Mobilkommunikation, ihrer urbanen Systeme und Nutzungen werden dabei unterschiedliche Konzeptionen des Verhältnisses von Stadt, Mobilität und Kommunikation greifbar. Sie stehen für eine breitere und heterogene Geschichte der mediatisierten mobilen Stadt im Konnex von Urbanität, Mobilität und mobiler und pervasiver Medientechnologie.
