Viele würden sagen, es sind Zahlen, die man mit einem Bruchstrich schreibt, oben der Zähler, unten der Nenner. Das ist schon mal das Wesentlichste. Meistens denkt man an positive Zahlen, also dass Zähler und Nenner positive ganze Zahlen sind, d. h. natürliche Zahlen.
