Electrochemical and Structural Aspects of Metallofullerenes

  • Conference paper
Chemistry at the Beginning of the Third Millennium

Abstract

The presence of a metal inside or a metal fragment outside the cage of fullerenes should increase the attention towards these spectacular molecules as far as either their molecular structures or their ability to exchange electrons are concerned. The present review paper gives an updated survey of the redox aptitude of either exohedral or endohedral metallofullerenes. As far as possible structural details are illustrated for those molecules the electrochemistry of which has been studied. Literature data are also reported for those complexes, which have been characterised only from the crystallographic point of view.
