Zusammenfassung

Die Inzidenz des Prostatakarzinoms stieg 1995 auf „epidemisches“ Niveau. Dies trifft vor allem auf die USA zu; denn zwischen 1979 und 1995 erhöhte sich die Zahl der Erkrankten von 64000 auf 244000 (Wingo et al. 1995). In Deutschland läßt sich diese Inzidenzsteigerung um den Faktor 4 nicht beobachten, 1991 erkrankten etwa 16000 und 1995 etwa 20000 Männer (Hölzel et al, 1991; Hölzel, 1995) (Abb. 6.1).
