Abstract
The work described is part of a programme of research designed to ;aid the British Government’s anti-smoking campaign. We have conducted two national surveys, one in 1963 and one in 1964, with the object of (1) providing a baseline against which future changes in smoking behaviour and attitudes can be assessed and (2) studying the attitudes that govern the reaction to anti-smoking appeals.
