Abstract

Fact-finding research was undertaken on irrigated rice fields of individual farmers in three sample regions in the northwest of the Nile Delta to determine the magnitudes of and relations between:

  • Crop production;

  • Amount and salt content of irrigation water;

  • Amount and salt content of surface and subsurface drainage water;

  • Salinity of the topsoil;

  • Depth and salt concentration of the surface-water layer.
