Zusammenfassung
Das folgende Kapitel beschreibt und diskutiert Verhaltensweisen im Zusammenhang mit sportlicher Aktivität, die stresstheoretisch betrachtet als maladaptive Copingstrategien bewertet werden können. Dabei stehen insbesondere die Themenbereiche Alkoholmissbrauch, Dopingverhalten sowie die Entwicklung einer Tendenz zu suchthaftem Verhalten in Verbindung mit sportlicher Aktivität im Fokus. Während Alkohol- und Drogenmissbrauch im Sport und die Entwicklung einer Sportsucht durchaus einiges an Gemeinsamkeiten, insbesondere was die Wirkungsweise betrifft, aufweist, haben wir es mit Dopingverhalten zumindest teilweise mit anderen, eher motivationalen Aspekten zu tun. Alle drei Verhaltensweisen könnten stresstheoretisch jedoch als Kompensationshandlungen interpretiert werden.
