Zusammenfassung
Syphilis ist eine weltweit vorkommende, systemische Infektionskrankheit mit dem Bakterium Treponema pallidum, welches über den Geschlechtsverkehr, intimen/sexuellen körperlichen Kontakt oder diaplazentar übertragen wird. Seit 2010 finden sich steigende Inzidenzen, auch in allen westeuropäischen Staaten. Mehr als 80 % der neuen Infektionen sind auf sexuelle Kontakte zwischen Männern zurückzuführen, von welchen bereits 30 % HIV-infiziert sind. Durch einen Anstieg auch im heterosexuellen Bereich treten auch wieder Fälle konnataler Syphilis auf. Die Erkrankung durchläuft verschiedene Stadien, manifestiert sich an unterschiedlichen Organen, und zeichnet sich durch die unterschiedlichsten Symptome aus. In vielen Fällen wird die Diagnose beim asymptomatischen Patienten zufällig im Stadium der Spätlatenz gestellt. Zunehmend werden neurologischen Komplikation im Rahmen der Frühsyphilis, zumeist Hirnnervenausfälle, diagnostiziert. Penicillin ist nach wie vor Therapie der Wahl, Resistenzen sind bis heute nicht bekannt.
