Zusammenfassung

Im Folgenden soll der Placebo Effekt und seine Bedeutung für die Interpretation von Studien zur Lichttherapie untersucht werden. Vorangestellt sei zunächst eine Definition des Begriffes Placebo, wie er hier verstanden werden soll: „… as any therapeutic procedure (or that component of any therapeutic procedure) which is given deliberately to have an effect, or unknowingly has an effect on a patient, symptôme, syndrome, or disease, but is objectively without specific activity for the condition bang treated“ (Shapiro 1964, S. 75).
