Zusammenfassung
Die Hauptindikation eine Erythrozytensubstitution durchzuführen ist eine ausreichende Sauerstofftransportkapazität aufrecht zu erhalten. Dafür werden in zunehmendem Maße Erythrozytenkonzentrate eingesetzt. Gegenüber Vollblut ergeben sich folgende Vorteile:

Die Volumensbelastung des Patienten ist deutlich reduziert.

Vollblut kann in seine verschiedenen Komponenten aufgeteilt werden, und diese können als Einzelfraktion ökonomisch bei unterschiedlichen Indikationen eingesetzt werden.
