Coronary Angioscopy

Abstract

Angioscopy system for the visualization of peripheral artery disease (PAD), veins, and/or pulmonary arteries has been developed, using a special balloon guiding catheter that provides direct color images of thrombus. Our previous studies demonstrated that this is very useful for accurate diagnosis and treatment in patients with venous thromboembolism. Since angioscopy is the most accurate imaging modality for the evaluation of inner surface or internal surface of plaque in patients with PAD, this has been shown to be useful for improving diagnosis and treatment of PAD.
