Abstract
The measurement of the dc zero-field-cooled magnetization in superconducting high-T c epitaxial thin films with a SQUID susceptometer is found to lead occasionally to anomalous temperature dependence in which the magnetization shows a positive peak near T c . This behavior is always accompanied by positive field-cooled magnetization in a low filed. We attribute these anomalous behaviors to a slightly inhomogeneous field distribution in the sample space, which causes a spurious SQUID output signal almost identical to that gained from a reverse-signed magnetic moment.
