Riassunto
L’idea dell’esistenza di differenze significative tra uomini e donne nei vari aspetti del gioco d’azzardo patologico (GAP) è un argomento che ha ricevuto crescente attenzione negli ultimi 5 anni. Nonostante il GAP sia considerato principalmente un problema maschile, la recente concentrazione sul GAP nelle donne ha portato l’attenzione su importanti differenze di genere nei campi dell’epidemiologia, della fenomenologia, della comorbidità psichiatrica e della biologia. Queste differenze hanno importanti implicazioni sui trattamenti. In questo capitolo, le scoperte che riguardano le differenze di genere sono passate in rassegna all’interno del contesto clinico.
