Abstract
Open lung strategies — what they are, how to use them, and why they are important — have been discussed in great detail in recent years. These strategies propose we focus on sparing lung tissue from the damaging effects of positive pressure ventilation. In doing so we hope to reduce the time of ventilation and also the associated risks.
