Samenvatting

Pijn bij kinderen en adolescenten komt vaak voor en leidt dikwijls tot consultatie bij de huisarts. Het beoordelen van pijnproblemen is niet zo eenvoudig als op het eerste zicht lijkt. Men moet met tal van factoren rekening houden. Het beoordelen van pijnproblemen omvat meer dan het vaststellen van de aan- of afwezigheid, intensiteit en lokalisatie van de pijn. Aspecten zoals ervaren ontreddering (angst en depressie), functionele beperkingen, coping en ziekteopvattingen mogen bij de diagnostiek van pijn niet over het hoofd worden gezien.
