Samenvatting
Een pustula is een zichtbare holte, gevuld met purulent al of niet steriel vocht, kleiner dan 1 cm. Een pustel droogt in tot een geelbruine korst. Bij loslaten van de crusta ontstaat een collerette (schilferkraagje). Pustulae kan men indelen naar lokalisatie in de huid. Ze kunnen subcorneaal, intra-epidermaal of folliculair gelegen zijn. Veelal is er een infectieus agens (tabel 17.1). Pustels maken over het algemeen onderdeel uit van een grote diversiteit aan huidziekten die al in andere hoofdstukken aan de orde komen.
