Functions of Natural Organic Matter in Changing Environment

Abstract

This research discloses a connection between humus composition of maritime burozems and biocenosis diversity of Primorsky Krai. Burozems under oak forests have humus of humate-fulvate type (Chumic acid to Cfulvic acid ratio is 0.78), while burozems under grass-shrub thickets have humus of fulvate-humate type (Chumic acid to Cfulvic acid ratio is 1.20). The latter are also characterized by increased levels of calcium humates (in horizons AU and BMhi) and their derivatives, bound with fulvic acids, in the illuvial part of soil profiles.
