Abstract

It has been a very difficult task to assemble a chapter on vertebrates for the Data Source Book. The contributors wish to make it clear that the data are to be considered only as a data guide to a particular site and as a source of reference. These data should be used with great care for many reasons, some of which are outlined below, and particularly if comparisons are to be drawn across sites or between geographical regions.
