Disturbance, hybridization and hybrid speciation

Disturbance in Grasslands

Part of the book series: Geobotany ((GEOB,volume 10))

Abstract

The evolutionary forces which operate within a given plant population both produce and sort out genetic variation. In higher plants, evolution is mainly concerned with the restructuring of polygenic variation and the fixation of new adaptive gene combinations. In this way, evolution proceeds from the molecular level of mutation to the adaptation of individuals in populations.
