Abstract

During a seventeen year period, 1965–1982, 1250 pulmonary resections were performed under acupuncture anesthesia in the department of thoracic surgery of Beijing Institute of Tubculosis and Pulmonary Tumors. The acupuncture anesthesia was successful in 1212: cases (97%), being excellent in 876 cases (70%). No untoward effect was encounterd in the entire series. A summary of our clinical experience will be presented in this chapter.
