Abstract

“Nihil nocere,” an old maxim of medical therapeutics, seems also to hold for humanistically orientated psychotherapy. Yet scholars in this field often face unexpected problems, and not only because of conflicting psychotherapeutic methods. Not only is it difficult to decide precisely on the advantages of a particular psychotherapeutic intervention, but assistance itself may become a source of disturbance in individual cases. Do we have any guidance in this situation?
