Abstract
Co Substituted Li nickelates were synthesized and described in detail by Ohzuku et al. (1993), but their electrochemical performance was inferior than that of LiNiO2Since 1997 a large number of papers appeared, describing LiNi1-yCOyO2 samples with y from 0.2 to 0.3 and excellent electrochemical performance. The substantial improvement was achieved by the use of new starting materials, new precursors and complex procedures requiring unconventional equipment.
