Abstract
In the management of insomnia the practitioner should keep two factors in mind. Insomnia is a symptom not a diagnosis in its own right, and patients who complain of insomnia are really suffering from ‘sleep dissatisfaction’. Secondly, there is no clear understanding of ideal sleep except that which is acceptable to the patient.
