Abstract

While the organometallic compounds of the main group metals are best classified by the Periodic Group of the metal, those of the d-block transition metals are more conveniently treated in terms of the organic ligands. In Table XI ligands are classified according to the number of electrons which are formally considered* to be donated by the ligand in the formation of the metal-ligand bond.
