Paint Manufacture: Processing Operations

  • Chapter
Surface Coatings

Abstract

The manufacture of paint is an increasingly complex and challenging activity. Basically, it is a step-by-step process which must be accomplished within demanding time schedules. The production sequence aims at the efficient conversion of a wide range of raw materials many themselves the fruits of specialised branches of the chemical industry into an increasing range of finished products to meet consumers’ sophisticated needs. Paint factories therefore need to be organised, with effective communication as well as with systematic procedures, for successful results.
