Abstract

Armenia, despite its small land area, is rich in various mineral deposits, which have permitted the establishment of projects to mine and process copper, copper-molybdenum, gold-bearing ores, cement raw materials, bentonites, perlites, volcanic and felsite tuffs, basalts, granites, marbleized limestones, rock salt, gemstone materials, mineral waters, etc. Furthermore, Armenia has a number of deposits with proved reserves of iron ores, zeolites, diatomites, ceramic clays, and gypsum on the basis of which existing industries can develop and new ones might be set up.
