Abstract

The global increase of energy consumption is causing an increase in the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere. This concentration may double before the end of the next century (Zimen, 1979; Rotty, 1979; Biasing, 1985). Carbon dioxide is a major factor determining the energy balance of the Earth and increases in atmospheric CO2 will therefore alter global climate. Changes in global temperature have received much attention but seasonal changes in precipitation are also likely to occur.
