Abstract

Vibratory feeders are used in automatic assembly to feed small parts. An oscillating track with frequencies up to 100 Hz excites the transportation process, mainly based on impact and friction phenomena. This paper presents a complete mechanical model of part feeding dynamics, based on unilateral constraints with Coulomb friction. This experimentally verified model enables a theoretical investigation and consequently an improvement of the transportation process.
