Abstract

We review in this contribution classical and modern techniques of collection, reduction and analysis of photometric and spectroscopic data. After assessing the problem of data collection, through a review of the principal photometric and spectroscopic techniques used for pulsating stars observations, the process from the raw to the reduced and standard datum is described. Special attention is then given to time-series analysis techniques and to the advantages in spectral determination derived from multi-longitude observing programmes
